today...and last night...

well...the summary of my summary of my trip to europe is still on hold, as it will be for an undetermined length of time because a) i'm feeling lazy, b) allison is visiting and c) i just am not in the mood to summarize. in other news...allison is indeed here in wisconsin with me (as well as her sister rachel). they arrived at gramma's yesterday afternoon and then allison and i proceeded to stay up the whole night while i was watching some cows for some people overnight at a big dairy show at the county fairgrounds. well, i take that back, i was awake the whole night, allison faded out on me sometime shortly after 3am. it was a mostly uneventful night. basically, i was there to watch over some very very valuable animals and make sure they stayed fed, clean and safe from drunken people...which i did. there were a few drunks about, one in particular who decided to talk to us. allison eventually asked him to excuse himself, and he stumbled away...straight lines were obviously not something he could manage. anyways, we got home around 5:30 this morning, found the door to gramma's house locked, so allison and i headed to my house and my bed...yes, my twin bed. cozy...quite cozy. and when it's really warm outside, it's not quite so fun, but seeing how we were both in need of a great deal of sleep, we made it work. i got up at about 10:30 and allison slept till after 1, when i finally woke her up and told her we were going to the lake. we had a jolly afternoon at the lake and i revived my tan while canoeing and swimming. a word of warning...don't put allison in the back of a canoe where she might have to steer. lets just say that my grandpa was having a good laugh at our 'straight' line back to their dock from the other side of the lake. ethan and i did fine paddling around, and i was fine when i was paddling alone while ethan was fishing, but then allison decided she wanted a try. we only got really close to tipping once though, when she was just starting to get the hang of things. thank goodness ethan is good at keeping his balance or the three of us would have been stuck, sunk up to our waists in muck with a little water on top on the wrong side of the lake. oh well, we had fun and caught a turtle, who's name is now Franklin. he doesn't like us much, but that's ok. then tonite we had dinner at gramma's...wonderful as usual. we attempted some rounds of card games, but exhaustion over came most of the players and the evening ended early. well, it's not early anymore, and i have to be up, showered and out of the house by 8am tomorrow... so bubye

lol, besides the visual images of drunken men looking for someone to chat with, and waste deep mire with a thin layer of water on top, all i could think of at the end was... "my heart goes out to you, franklin!"

oh that's nice, really nice...thanks a lot! and for your information, allison and rachel made a trip down to the river today with little franklin and set him free. i was not around to say farewell, as i was at another dairy judging contest (which i won by the way...yay me), but rest assured that franklin is now freely roaming the rock river and is being tormented by us no longer.

um, allison RARELY fades out before 3am. on a good night. this particular one, however, was preceded by a stream of 24 hours of consciousness, mostly of which was filled with hours and hours of fun-filled nation-wide driving. GAH. anyway, do not underestimate allison's staying-up abilities when we all know what a morning person she is (what?). gooday.
